Hello, Gem. How’s your heart? I pray it’s thriving. Let me tell you what’s been on mine.

Reclaim Your Peace x K.M.

★

So, I have a few questions…

When’s the last time you sat still without reaching for your phone? Or wrote something just for you, not for an audience or approval? When’s the last time you slowed down enough to hear your thoughts?

Gem, it’s imperative to understand that life will not hand us peace; you have to claim it.

In a world that rewards constant output and connection, choosing yourself feels like rebellion, huh? Oh, trust me, I know. But I also know it’s the kind of rebellion worth practicing every single day.

In this blog, we’re discussing three tools that can help you protect your energy, honor your mind, and keep your identity anchored: journaling, self-care rituals, and digital detoxing.

Are you down to not only read about them, but also soak it all in?

I trust the answer is a ‘hell yes.’

Journaling isn’t just fancy leather-bound notebooks or perfectly curated entries. The focus should be on giving your thoughts, emotions, and dreams a safe place to land.

Research shows that expressive writing can reduce stress, strengthen immune function, and improve overall well-being (Pennebaker & Smyth, Opening Up by Writing It Down, 2016).

The page doesn’t judge you; it welcomes your deepest thoughts, fears, and prayers.

Try this:

  • Write three sentences every morning answering, “What do I need most today?”

  • End your day with, “One thing I’m grateful for and one thing I’m releasing.”

  • Take it further and write a letter to God. Be honest and keep in mind that He already knows everything about us and what we need. Reminding yourself of this should help you keep it real.

You’ll be amazed at how much lighter your spirit feels when your mind has space to breathe.

Self-care has been marketed as pretty things like candles and bubble baths, and while those are lovely and we all love the aesthetics, proper self-care runs deeper. It’s about preservation, not just pampering.

Think of rituals as anchors in your day:

  • A prayer and morning tea in silence before the world starts demanding your attention.

  • Stretching for 10 minutes before bed to release tension.

  • Reading one chapter of a book that inspires you before you open social media.

These are more than just luxuries; they’re tasks that help us feel lighter and overcome.

There’s no debate that we live in the loudest age in history. Every notification, reel, and headline is competing for your focus. Studies have shown that excessive screen time, especially on social media, can increase stress, anxiety, and feelings of inadequacy (Twenge et al., Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology, 2018).

A digital detox doesn’t have to mean disappearing for months. Start small with no screens for the first 30 minutes after waking, phone-free meals, and one weekend morning dedicated to offline joys like walking, baking, journaling, or simply being still.

Your peace is non-negotiable, Gem.

Like we keep reminding you over here at SheIsTreasure, you don’t need to earn rest. You don’t need permission to protect your space. And you can pour into others without emptying yourself.

So pick up your pen. Light that candle… not for the aesthetic, but for the atmosphere. Put your phone down and let the silence hold you for a while.

Your future self will thank you for every healing boundary you set today.

The less you consume, the more you can hear your own voice. And Gem, that voice matters.

Gem, share this reminder with another woman who’s ready to choose herself unapologetically.

Until next time, I wish you courage as you journal your truth, guard your peace, and reclaim your peace and joy. - K. M.
