8|3|26Hey, Gem. Zhara here, and I’m back with another one.
Let’s jump into it.
Welcome Home x Zhara. J.

I used to believe there was another version of me waiting somewhere in the future.
She was more confident, accomplished, and certain. And she always seemed to exist beyond whatever milestone I was chasing at the time. If I reached one goal, I imagined she would be waiting at the next. If I healed from one heartbreak, I thought I'd finally meet her on the other side. If I learned enough, worked hard enough, prayed long enough, loved well enough, then maybe one day I would arrive. For years, I never questioned the search; I kept walking, consistently trying to find my way.
Looking back, I wonder how many women are doing the same.
We spend so much of life reaching for peace, purpose, and healing. We keep reaching for the version of ourselves we believe will finally feel complete.
Ever considered that we’ve been walking past her this entire time? The woman I had been searching for was never asking me to notice her; rather, she was demanding that I become someone else. Life has a beautiful way of teaching us many things. But it also teaches us to heighten our expectations, compare timelines, and measure ourselves against accomplishments, relationships, appearance, and applause.
Psychologists Jennifer Crocker and Connie Wolfe describe this as contingent self-worth, in which our sense of value becomes attached to things outside ourselves, including achievement, appearance, and others' approval (Crocker & Wolfe, 2001).
I don't believe any of us wake up one morning deciding to live that way. Until one day, we're standing in front of a mirror, wondering why we always feel one step behind our own lives.
Dr. Kristin Neff's research on self-compassion found that women who respond to themselves with kindness during difficult moments experience greater emotional resilience and psychological well-being (Neff, 2003).
Kindness changes the conversation, creating space for grace. Growth feels safest where compassion thrives.
I’ve been focusing more on laughing freely and celebrating small victories without rushing to the next one. Gem, let’s stop needing every chapter of our life to look impressive before we allow ourselves to enjoy it. Let’s feel and be more present.
Perhaps that’s what coming home to ourselves feels like. It’s more than a destination; it's a feeling of worthiness and tenderness—an authentic appreciation of our reflection.
If these types of thoughts are where you find yourself lately, I hope you'll pause for just a moment. Learn to take a breath, and look at the woman you've been walking with through every heartbreak, every celebration, every unanswered prayer, every lesson, every beginning, and every ending.
She isn't waiting somewhere ahead; you're finally catching up to her.
Welcome home.

Share this reflection with a woman who has spent so much of her life chasing the next version of herself. Sometimes the greatest gift we can offer each other is the reminder that we already belong within our own hearts.
Until next time, thank you for walking through another season with us. Every reflection, conversation, and shared moment has been part of this journey. As we close the chapter on Embracing Her, I hope you carry this truth with you: the woman you've been learning to embrace has been worthy of love every step of the way.
We will always be here to remind you that you're a Gem and an invaluable treasure. ♡
